About
“It’s not that Christians don’t care about the poor,
it’s that we don’t knowthe poor.” Shane Claibororne
We fail to act because we fail to know how and where to act.
Don’t continue to live in ignorance – without knowledge or information about men, women, children, brothers, sister, friends -fellow mankind- who are suffering in our world, continent, country, state, city, school, neighborhood.
Choose today to fast from ignorance.
Choose today to learn or experience something new.
View life in your city through the eyes of a single mom on welfare or an old man who has lived for the streets for many years. Things you now think of as “necessary” would become obsolete. What you now value would fade to the back of your mind. “Fast from Ignorance” will take you to those places, those people, and pull you out of your world and into theirs — not so that you step comfortably back your own bubble after a moment of compassion, but so that your comfort-zone can be expanded and you will be led to action.
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to loose the chains of injustice
and untie the cords of the yoke,
to set the oppressed free
and break every yoke?Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe him,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?Then your light will break forth like the dawn,
and your healing will quickly appear;
then your righteousness will go before you,
and the glory of the LORD will be your rear guard.Then you will call, and the LORD will answer;
you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I.”-Isaiah 58:6-9
